A subband excitation substitute based scheme for narrowband speech watermarking Article

Wei LIU, Ai-qun HU

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2017, Volume 18, Issue 5,   Pages 627-643 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1601503

Abstract: We propose a new narrowband speech watermarking scheme by replacing part of the speech with a scaled and spectrally shaped hidden signal. Theoretically, it is proved that if a small amount of host speech is modified, then not only an ideal channel model for hidden communication can be established, but also high imperceptibility and good intelligibility can be achieved. Furthermore, a practical system implementation is proposed. At the embedder, the power normalization criterion is first imposed on a passband watermark signal by forcing its power level to be the same as the original passband excitation of the cover speech, and a synthesis filter is then used to spectrally shape the scaled watermark signal. At the extractor, a bandpass filter is first used to get rid of the out-of-band signal, and an analysis filter is then employed to compensate for the distortion introduced by the synthesis filter. Experimental results show that the data rate is as high as 400 bits/s with better bandwidth efficiency, and good imperceptibility is achieved. Moreover, this method is robust against various attacks existing in real applications.

Innovation-driven trend shaping COVID-19 vaccine development in China

Frontiers of Medicine doi: 10.1007/s11684-023-1034-6

Abstract: Confronted with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, China has become an asset in tackling the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) transmission and mutation, with several innovative platforms, which provides various technical means in this persisting combat. Derived from collaborated researches, vaccines based on the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 or inactivated whole virus are a cornerstone of the public health response to COVID-19. Herein, we outline representative vaccines in multiple routes, while the merits and plights of the existing vaccine strategies are also summarized. Likewise, new technologies may provide more potent or broader immunity and will contribute to fight against hypermutated SARS-CoV-2 variants. All in all, with the ultimate aim of delivering robust and durable protection that is resilient to emerging infectious disease, alongside the traditional routes, the discovery of innovative approach to developing effective vaccines based on virus properties remains our top priority.

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2021, Volume 22, Issue 2,   Pages 141-286 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1900377

Abstract: Special curves in the Minkowski space such as Minkowski Pythagorean hodograph curves play an important role in computer-aided geometric design, and their usages are thoroughly studied in recent years. Bizzarri et al. (2016) introduced the class of Rational (RE) curves, and an method for Hermite data was presented, where the resulting RE curve yielded a rational boundary for the represented domain. We now propose a new application area for RE curves: of a discrete set of input s. We show that if we do not choose the Hermite data correctly for , then the resulting RE curves are not suitable for . We introduce a novel approach so that the obtained curves touch each at previously defined points of contact. Thus, we overcome those problematic scenarios in which the location of touching points would not be appropriate for purposes. A significant advantage of our proposed method lies in the efficiency of trimming offsets of boundaries, which is highly beneficial in computer numerical control machining.
